Radiochemistry Unit 2

The radiochemistry unit is part of the Nuclear Medicine department located in the University Hospital building (Campus Jette) and aims at the synthesis and production of new radiolabeled molecules for the diagnosis and therapy of various disease.
In addition, the unit is also responsible for the routine production of clinical PET and SPECT radiopharmaceuticals.

Radiochemistry Unit 1

The facility is divided into a routine 99mTc-radiopharmacy area, a 68Ga-synthesis area and a 18F-PET radiopharmacy. The radiochemistry facility is directly linked with the cyclotron unit of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel equipped with a CGR 560 multiple particle variable energy cyclotron, giving access to daily productions of cyclotron-based radioisotopes.
18F-synthesis procedures are developed on Synthera® modules (IBA Molecular, Belgium) that are installed in independent hotcells. A GMP facility for PET tracer production is under construction.

The QC lab is equipped with radio-HPLC systems, radio-TLC, gas chromatograph, spectrophotometer, gamma counter.
